Project Overview

Australian Volunteers International is one of the largest volunteer management organisations in Australia, managing thousands of skilled volunteers across a large number of assignments internationally. This represents a significant technological challenge, including the following functional needs:

  • Centralised Volunteer Profile, including previous Assignments, Inductions, Safety Compliance, Work Permits, etc
  • Connected online experience to self-manage, arrange travel, and communicate with Volunteers when overseas
  • Reimbursement of Volunteer Expenses as quickly and efficiently as possible


Vertic has a long-standing and close partnership with Australian Volunteers International having been engaged for over 4 years now to initially implement the Salesforce digital platform to manage the volunteer pool. We have since introduced a number of evolutions and enhancements to this powerful platform, including:

  • Online Onboarding and Applications Management
  • International Volunteer Portal to manage Assignments and Deployments
  • Online complex Registration Processes with associated automation to increase organisational efficiencies
  • Marketing Campaign Management platform (using Salesforce Pardot)


The results of this implementation are a complete and connected digital platform across the entire organisation, built on the Salesforce ecosystem. The local, national, and international teams are now connected at all times, the application, onboarding, safety, and in-country management processes are centralised within a single solution. This offers a completely new way of operationally going about managing both volunteers and partner countries, including:

  • Local, National, and International Volunteer Management
  • Financial System Integration for realtime Reimbursements to Volunteers
  • Integration with a number of Government Safety Systems, such as 'Police Checks` and 'Working with Children Checks`
  • Comprehensive Online Presence, including Assignment Search, Application, Induction, and Data Insights
